>>97897679The terrifying part is that again and again and again, we see that a large portion of this argument is from the situation that these casual fans don't have any idea of where the money comes from to pay holos, despite it being known for years by anyone who's halfway invested.
Even most recently, when Moona talked about getting 'part-time waitress' pay, you can see dozens of comments misconstruing it as her whole paycheck and then going straight to the 'it's because Indonesia is much cheaper, so it's more than enough' instinctive cope, without understanding that it's the base allowance and they all get the same small amount because they're expected to make it up from other sources.
Most of them are in the wageslave mentality, which is very simple:
I do my work and put in my hours. Then I get money
Where does that money come from? Oh, that's easy, the company pays for it.
So from their perspective, it's okay if they're not buying merch or SCing or membering. All that stuff? Pfft, that's just a form of support from other people. But it's basically the same level as my support, which is weeding out the evil people who make it more difficult for the streamer to do their job, which is to stream!
Whether the fans spend money or not, Cover will pay the girls as long as they do their job!
Once you realize they approach it like that, everything makes sense. 'The fans' are an amorphous blob that pays Cover, who then pays the girls depending on how much work they do. Fan opinions don't matter as long as the girls produce work, right?
