It's a strange phenomenon. Nyanners got with Aethel and shit on her audience for not liking him causing her to decline hard. Vei got with someone way larger yhan her and just stopped streaming as much rather than getting mad at people who don't like him.
Most of the hate for Vei though comes from a few years ago when she attacked hololive I believe for graduation merch, but mouse just did that too so I dunno maybe it's just vshojo as a whole are hated. Actual Vei antis are pretty rare these days and I think its because she's just calmed down alot and rarely streams.

Lumi was not scammed I don't think, but her model was made by him and it started becoming very obvious he can only really do one face. He's done sketches of other vtubers like Saruei and I think Laimu but they all end up just looking like Vei. I think the streamer Squchan spent thousands and only got back a sketch from him to give you an idea of how he was scamming.
