Then she thought something may be wrong with the resolution, or her save may be broken. I don't know how she came to that conclusion.
That part certainly is janky. Like how the cat appears after you talk to Pierre. She also noticed that standing on the other side of pavement, made the cat appear from the left corner.
I noticed that too in my playthrough. I also noticed her attempt to reach the cat in futile from the direction of Pierre; that was never going to work.
All she had to do was stand near the boxes on the lower right corner, and wait for the cat to appear with the cloth out. When the cat appears, all she had to do was click on the cat. The detective then walks over to the cat in a few steps and a cutscene plays through.
I am baffled no one in chat said this and made her think her game was broken. The game being that janky is just its default state.
