Toma's trip to TwitchCon was filled with excitement, collaboration, and a whole lot of stress, all centered around securing an IRL (in-real-life) streaming backpack for her upcoming collab with Neuro-sama, an AI VTuber.
The saga begins with Toma trying to find a cost-effective solution for the backpack, opting not to have Vedal (Neuro-sama's developer) ship one for a hefty price. Twitch offered rentals, but confirmation was delayed, leaving Toma in a panicked state on Thursday evening. Her friend Jake, an IRL streamer, stepped in to inquire with the backpack providers, offering a glimmer of hope.
Dinner with friends provided little solace as Toma's anxiety grew. Simultaneously, Vedal was discussing security arrangements, initially suggesting armed guards for Toma's zoo stream – a proposal Toma found excessive and amusingly out of touch with reality. A chance encounter with Georgie, a security guard, at a party led to a hilarious conversation where it was revealed Georgie had been hired for the stream without Toma's knowledge. Furthermore, Georgie happened to be carrying an IRL backpack, initially thought to be Toma's, but ultimately belonging to someone else.
The night continued with Toma's frantic search for a suitable backpack. She consumed copious amounts of alcohol to cope with the stress, while simultaneously trying to maintain a positive facade with her partying friends. She messaged numerous people, exploring various options, but each lead seemed to fall through. Another unexpected twist occurred when Georgie ended up at the same second party, still carrying the elusive backpack. A conversation with Mythic staff members (Vedal's agency) resulted in a generous offer to buy a camera and microphone for a makeshift setup, but concerns remained about compatibility.
Toma's desperation grew as the night wore on. She messaged Vedal multiple times, updating him on the chaotic situation, even drunkenly texting him at 2 a.m., documenting her increasingly frantic state. Finally, at 4:30 a.m., Toma received confirmation for a Twitch-supplied backpack. She raced through the convention center to retrieve it, only to discover that it couldn't be configured properly for Neuro-sama to see the stream.
Defeated but not broken, Toma contacted her friend Ray, who had previously lent her a backpack. After explaining the dire situation, Ray agreed to let Toma borrow his backpack. Toma and Georgie rushed to pick it up and sped off to the zoo, arriving just in time for the stream.
Despite the initial chaos and stress, Toma's collab with Neuro-sama was a success. She navigated technical hurdles, dealt with overly cautious zoo security (possibly due to her joking about animal interactions), and even encountered a fan who mistook her for Vedal. Toma's IRL zoo stream with Neuro-sama, though born from a chaotic 16-hour quest for a backpack, ultimately proved to be a fun and memorable experience.
