If you're taking it on the rare chance you feel pain, and you don't experience shit and still do it, then it would be abusive.
There's a reason millions of people get preventative pain-killing meds - so they can still work / live without being put off every task ever.
I mean, yeah, we can go in to how corrupt the medical system is in not investigating the SOURCE of a persons pain and trying to deal with that, but that's another discussion.
Pre-emptive pain-suppression is useful. The obscenely high-strength given for a wee bit of pain is abusive. (Fentanyl for a fucking bit of leg pain, christ)
