That's literally fire country. Some of the plants there won't even sprout until a fire burns through. There's so many fires there, they literally evolved for fire. It's part of the ecosystem there.
The cause of the fires is the offshore winds. Any stay spark becomes a blaze. Once the windy season comes, the fires come, like clockwork. Every single year.
Controlled burns help a bit I guess, but for the most part it's unfeasable to do that. It's just gonna happen, you gotta have firebreaks set up.
