>>10006049Surprise, surprise. Different groups of people with different tastes and cultures will have different opinions on entertainment. 4chan culture hard values meritocracy and quality above all else, and the absence of forced positivity is why shit gets called shit.
4chan isn't always right as consumers don't necessarily know what they want at all times but that's why it's the company's job to figure out what'll work well in light of public opinion.
In this case, public opinion was completely ignored in favor of either corporate mandates, or Gura just personally liking Marine and Aqua. There's nothing wrong with that, but your casual gaming friends don't necessarily have to be the same as your idol unit. In fact, sometimes it's better to keep the professional separate from the personal.
Profesional marketed idol units should be constructed based on on-camera synergy first and foremost, while casual collabs are where the chubas' own preferences come into play. Gura can still play minecraft with jp's on stream without the pretense of an idol unit. But if she and Ina are going to be in an idol unit, it should be one where the chemistry is smoother and more vibrant than the awkward mess that is umisea. There's a time and a place for everything, and "professional" idol units aren't the place for pushing cronyism over raw talent, merit and member being able to mutually hype one another.
