You can call yourself a gamer, and even though 'gamer' doesn't correlate with a rigid truth statement, you'd still have to show some signs of being a gamer, or else calling yourself a gamer is functionally useless.
Similarly, someone who identifies as a girl, but otherwise shows no signs of wanting to appear or be accepted as female, would be like calling someone who never plays games a gamer.
It defeats the purpose of language.
