>>100170004i'm not trying to shoot you down, if you didn't mean to participate in the silly "BEST OF THE BEST" discussion and just wanted to drop one of your favorite songs, then by all means ignore me.
that said (and now i'm gonna just yap and go all pretentious nerd so feel free to stop reading), i believe there are some more, uh, "common" metrics by which to "measure" songs when talking about the best music there is to offer, and no it's not numbers. (well, "common" is in quotes because i simply can't find a better word for it, but it's something i believe a larger amount of people would agree with than just "i like it" or "i don't like it")
for example, for a very boomer example, i think most people would say "smoke on the water" is a great song and very iconic, majority will agree on that, but if you measure it against a song like hendrix's "all along the watchtower", there's zero competition. the latter is simply much more interesting, diverse, intense, cooler, etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK7j_EERgT4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLV4_xaYynYsuisei's bbdb is catchy as fuck, people even without the MV were looping it on streaming services because it's a fun funky j-pop song, but i have yet to find a person that actually believes it's better than stellar stellar. more seasoned fans insist NCP or debutante ball blow everything else she's made out of the water. same with marine, bishopai may be her most famous, super catchy, but a lot more people like treasure box or unison much more. and back to these "metrics" i mentioned earlier, a song like shinkiro is super well produced and very musical, but also i feel like it's super derivative (it just sounds like SPARKLE, plastic love and stay with me all mashed together), so even though i fucking love that song, i still like unison much better and i believe unison would fit the "best in holo" competition much more.
and honestly, zeta's break it down is better than i remembered. even if maybe it wouldn't get top 5 in "best in holo" now i'm thinking it'd definitely go at the very least in top 5 or top 3 for "best in holoID".
i really fucking hate that trap breakdown though, glad it's short. kobo's HELP!! is really tough to beat for me though.
tangentially related, mel's album went under the radar for so many people and it's a shame. it literally has a kawaii eurobeat song and it's fucking great. people should listen to the album.
