>>100293374>VTube Studio requires extra steps to get webcam tracking working (iPhone tracking works fine + is better than webcam anyway)I haven't fired it up in a while but I'd have to check if that were true. Could have sworn it worked on its own. I know that is the case for VSeeFace at least, which is what I use. Though I recently did get a used iphone for tracking anyway since my webcam was sub-par as it were.
>The standard way of putting your model in OBS with a transparent background doesn't work, and the alternatives are either less intuitive or have bad performanceLess intuitive definitely. Requires a program/OBS plugin combo that you have to compile yourself. I have the unironic gentoo advantage there personally. Performance, however, is just fine, no known reductions that I've seen from using it for 3 some-odd years.
https://github.com/nowrep/obs-vkcapture>Big competitive multiplayer games often block Linux usersVery true, even more annoyingly in that most of them have a switch they can flip to allow support, but actively choose not to. Might change with the upcoming crack down on kernel level services in Windows bricking these anti-cheat and making it the same as on linux anyway. (It won't because company execs are retarded and will still assume linux is only for people that want to cheat even though it would be no easier at that point).
>The options for video editing software aren't as goodNo comment, I don't do it. I know the usual kings of video editing are not exactly stable even on windows, but win out because of features and the usual, which makes sense.
>On the flip side, some stuff like audio config sounds like it's easier than on WindowsAt the very least it doesn't require separate software to set up audio routing/isolation. No need for a separate virtual audio cable when it's built into the software. I don't know how easy it is for the layman though, since I've not looked into GUIs to do that configuration.
All of this said, I don't do anything fancy, and have obvious autism being on Gentoo. I also still use X11 and have no idea if Wayland would cause even more headache. As you said, definitely not ready for most people, but somehow Windows continues to get worse and it might only be another 2-3 years before they're on equal ground. Which is kinda sad to think about what it took to get there.
