Both things can be true at once - the "organic" part of the Umisea collab was good and fun. That is, the actual unscripted on-stream interactions between the talents (I'm thinking mostly here of the 2nd minecraft collab where they spent longer with each other and the ice was already broken, the 1st maripa was still a bit too chaperoned and reserved). Nobody will have anything against more of those actual collabs, and if the corpo project had to be what finally brought them together out of their shell, and we will get more natural collabs between them afterwards in the future, it will at least have served ONE good purpose.
Because on the other side of things, at the same time it can also be true to admit that the actual "company products" of the project (the animation shorts, the song) are underwhelming cringe at best or downright hot garbage at worst, and people are right in not being really all that jazzed about wanting to see more of THOSE things.
Notice the pattern? Cover is the problem factor here - "Umisea" is at their best when it's just the talents themselves interacting with minimal corpo meddling (so basically, 2nd minecraft collab), and at their worst the more the company gets involved and puts out manufactured shit that just has their (badly written) characters forced into it.
Both sides of the argument (blatant trolling aside) seem to be talking over each other. "I didn't like the shorts/song" -> "Oh, that must mean you HATE THE GIRLS?? REEEEE" is stupid, just like "I think the Umisea collab was fun and I wish they do more again" -> "So you want more garbage shorts and songs?!" also misses the point. People need to learn to separate liking the talents from having to slavishly and uncritically like everything that just has the talents faces slapped onto it. It's possible to be a fan of those four and still be able to honestly admit that the shorts/song wasn't all that good, which again isn't even mostly their fault anyway but on Covers retarded production decisions.
