This is just how production is, man. Not everything gets greenlit, not everything makes it to release and you have to kill your darlings sometimes. This is true everywhere in media.
Sometimes you spend weeks working on something just for it to go nowhere or have it get pulled at the 11th hour. You're working with other countless other people who have to also put food on the table, you're working with a corporation and a brand, and you're working on shit at scale. Gura had a lot more than just Full Color go under, trust me. I'm sure she had plenty of projects die in production hell, we've probably only seen the tip of the iceberg.
But that's just how the sausage is made. Some people deal with it better than others, and some people get really burnt out. Despite the glamour, it's work like any other and work fucking sucks. I mean I truly hate this shit -- don't you?
I'm looking forward to what she does as an indie, whatever it ends up being. She'll only really have to make decisions for herself. While freedom comes with its own challenges, I have no doubt the change of environment and expectations will be enormously beneficial for her. I'm glad she broke out of that cycle of stagnation.
