He was originally scheduled to leave in January, but they bumped him to February because management wanted to avoid the indignity of having two livers retire in the same calendar month - a decision that went from "assholeish but at least kinda sorta understandable in principle" to "aged like a cup of milk left behind a radiator" to "aged like a cup of milk left behind a radiator in the turbine hall of Reactor 4" in under two weeks.
...incidentally, when Kotoka graduates on Wednesday, it will be only the second time two EN livers have retired in the same calendar month. It would have been the third time, but Kunai decided not to step on Hex's feet last August. I think (what's left of) EN management may have stopped caring about that particular indignity.
