VTuber fans can't be anti-parasocial

I left after the 2020 VTuber boom and returned to find a lot of self-identified VTubers and VTuber fans complaining about parasocial relationships with the characters... when that's the whole point of the industry. It's like hiring prostitutes and complaining about how toxic people who hire prostitutes are.

VTubers breathe life into characters for an immersive spaosu experience. They appeal to the inherent need for love without objectifying real people, like real porn and celebrity culture, which anti-VTuber people often support. The whole concept is "These are immersive fictional characters who're attractive." People see the VTuber as the person, but it's always been very clear to me that they should be regarded as improv actors, who base the character off of themselves to varying degrees.

Being sad when the actors are in relationships is baseless, because the characters aren't in relationships. You're in love with this waifu; not the elderly stranger who inspires them. It's like feeling that a character is cheating on you because their actor is in a relationship. It's like feeling that a character is cheating on you because their creator is in a relationship. The whole invention of VTubing is meant to bypass these things.

The actors and fans both need to understand this, for both of their sake. Way too many people are letting the treatment of their characters affect their real self-perception. They rely on their character's masturbators as suppliers of self-esteem. They feel that what people are saying about the anime girl is true about them. They say not to be sexualized or shipped, which defeats the point of their profession. It could be argued that avoiding a parasocial relationship with fans is unavoidable, but then it's time to be against VTubing itself.

"Kayfabe" You mean VTubing? "BFE/GFE" You mean VTubing? "Simps" You mean VTuber fans?
