>>100666789It was an unexpectedly huge success from the beginning, originally just a smaller game to develop on the side while they worked on Stellar Blade, but then it turned out to be a huge moneymaker. There wasn't really ever a time when it was unknown. But it does feel like every anniversary things get worse and worse as more and more tourists notice it. I try to avoid interacting with the fanbase as best I can but every so often something happens in the game that makes you think "Ah fuck, they're doing this because these people have been complaining, aren't they?"
Feels like the inevitable fate of all live service games. You get a game that keeps getting updates and you can keep coming back to for years, but you always have that fear that annoying people will do something that causes it to become worse by complaining loudly enough. Which makes me appreciate old games more. They just put out the game and that's the game, good or bad, nobody can say anything that will make them change it. It feels more genuine.
