>>101131616it's a master class course on complacency, they hold one of the most valuable IPs on earth and don't have to invest too much and/or it's a nepotistic company as sometimes happens in Japan. can you imagine being a Japanese kid literally being able to say "yeah well my uncle/dad works at Gamefreak" etc. how many of them worked their way into the company.
although I also think it's because pokemon was primarily a handheld game until only the last like 6 years-ish? so their experience working on consoles is shit and they don't really have the experience to make actually-detailed worlds etc.
