Some people get shy by certain content.
Some people see older content and are like, "that's not really me any more" and paywall it instead of deleting it outright, which is vastly better.
Some people don't even keep VODs around public at all because they want to keep a mostly clean feed. This is a failing of Youtube for not letting you define default playlists that show at the top navigation on profiles so people just did that instead since it is easier than unlisting and maintaining playlists of those unlisted videos.
