ESLs can pause and look up vocabulary they don't know, but they can't do that if they just can't make out what the person is saying in the first place. With Mori a good example was back when she was practicing the fast rap part of godzilla. When she got it down it was actually easier to understand her doing it than Eminem himself. He was obviously way more melodic with it so it flowed much better, but you could very easily make out every single syllable Mori said when she did it.
