Hololive is run by a vtubing fan (Yagoo), so ideologically there is more to it than revenue, however he also seems to be someone who likes to larp as a bigtime CEO, so there's a lot of uncomfortable management processes and bureaucracy that were introduced. Not to mention the work culture clash between EN and JP, with the irony being that once Hololive started paying more attention to Myth, it meant that more JP work expectations were projected onto them.

Ultimately, vtubing companies are at the frontlines of what I believe to be a transition within the public perspective on work. People are realizing that the worker creates the value, and the corporation's input is not worth the degree of value they extract from the equation. So in a performance-oriented industry like vtubing where talents are so connected with their fanbases, they quickly start to wonder "what is this company really doing for me, when I'm literally the face of this character and doing all of the labor in cultivating a paying customer base?"
>>102378862Saba is gonna Saba. She's an extremely talented artist, and if you've ever been around those types, you'll know that they are a bit...fragile in some ways. You just have to roll with it and enable them to continue making amazing stuff.
And that is where I think some members of the fandom get a little misguided when thinking about her, because they put so much weight into her streams. But that isn't her art, and I really believe she doesn't think it is either, and it is taxing to her for people to demand streams like that's the only value she has. But she can't produce a huge amount of music either, because she pours so much of herself into it that it takes a long time and is a really intense emotional and physical workload for her.
