Not because Nintendo lost its stranglehold on the video game market but because Nintendo started doing incomprehensible bullshit that is today only known as "a classic Nintendo move"
Don't get me wrong they still make good and even great games, but it's always in spite of something.
And I feel like in the last few years specifically the average quality of their games has seen a sharp decline.
