Well, it will be manslaughter. Even if it isn't Gunrun rapechoking the life out of Doki, if she jumped off another roof and landed in front of VShojo's building because they screwed her over the court will still find them to be the cause of her death. It will go beyond just them stealing money and much harder for them to get out of jail even if they try to pull bankruptcy and run to some southern shithole country. Either way it would have been way too much worst of a hassle and made everything way worse now.

It could definitely be the latter option for sure. Most of the ex-Nijis that joined Vshojo for example were perfectly happy with an equally flawed deal from an unsustainable company. They were love bombed or groomed hard to where they tolerated not getting paid by the end. Mint in particular wasn’t even paid for her merch and somehow she was still fine with it, that probably speaks more about the kind of people Vshojo was targeting.

She said her price for exclusivity, though, was excessively high since if anyone wanted her exclusively, they would need to fund her enough money to build a 3D studio she could rent to other western vtubers.
But if you just want her to hang around or collab, allegedly she's very affordable. Seriously, brave could have easily dumped a bunch of money on her, and she would've played with the vspoen girls at least once a week and introduced them to top esports players.

Whatever your opinions are on Doki and her fanbase, it's a fact that her fans made a show of revolting against Nijisanji. For a single vtuber's community to rise up and take action against a company, NDA be damned, is still something only Dragoons have done. To have that sort of fanbase mix with yours is a liability because in the timeline where Doki had been scouted successfully into VShojo, Dragoons would be incredibly skeptical and willing to side with Doki at a moment's notice. Vtuber-related news outlets benefit from painting her as a victim after Nijisanji so you're fighting an uphill battle when it comes to the more mainstream news sources.

In hindsight, it's probably because doki had lawyered up and so they knew they couldn't dupe her so easily. She was too savvy and too willing to fight for VShojo to want her, in other words. Still managed to get screwed over by her parents, but a lot of smart people trust their parents too much.
If they had been a clean company that really espoused the ideals they had claimed, she'd have been a natural choice. Which is why my own assumption had been that she just didn't want to join them. Given what she said around the time, I don't know why I ever thought that.

Granted, the dragoons had a lot of allies, but yes, I agree. Even back in the Selen days, they had a reputation, so to speak. I think that while sponsors love to have dragoon money given their loyalty to their oshi, potential corpo collab partners view that level of autonomous power with apprehension.

While this is a gross overgeneralization, the observable behavior speaks for itself. Sisters don't do anything major that requires commitment.
