We are implicitly taught in school that black people are inherently disadvantaged in society over here since the majority of them are descended from slaves. Here is the US it’s called “black face”, and it has real world consequences. I’m not saying I personally agree with this, only that it’s not acceptable here. I only brought it up to point out that Sana isn’t actually playing a black person, as Cover wouldn’t risk it.

That would become a problem by someone leaking the truth. This is why I said Cover would likely never accept a black Sana, as it’s just too risky in todays political climate. Because then everything she did “wrong” would become scrutinized under a political lens.

Basically in history, (before blacks could vote) it was occasionally popular for whites to smear their faces black to portray black people in media, or to use black caricatures in their advertising. If I recall it was hardly ever used in a positive way, and mostly just used to make fun of the race. So today, it has more negative stigma than impersonating in any other way mostly.
