If you can get into Hololive there's no point.
There is, however, a point for small and medium indies.
A small indie (by which I mean those who have no realistic hope of being able to do vtubing as a sole job) will get a viewer growth opportunity and support that simply doesn't otherwise exist at their size tier.
A medium indie (as in, someone who could conceivably do vtubing as a sole job but it would be tight, or can do it as a profitable second job) won't see much viewership gain (unless they were in Twitch jail) but they spare themselves from a lot of behind the scenes work, saving lots of hours.
Both gain a lot of legitimacy for commissions and other work, both gain access to a circle of potential collab partners in their size tier, they don't lose the ability to collab outside as much as most other corpos.
They also gain the ability to do merch, which for most people who join Phase simply wasn't a possibility before. Even if you sell less than a hundred, if production was scaled reasonably that's still a chunk of extra cash that simply did not exist before.
Both also gain access to management and tech support, which neither would have access to as an indie. Phase's management is actually pretty good and their tech support is still more than zero.
You won't get big by joining Phase but it still brings benefits.
