Apparently, YouTube is working on more live streaming features to rival Twitch, such as gifted subs/memberships and something similar to Twitch prime, that is, according to top streamer Valkrae.

They had to if they wanted to attract the twitch crowd. I just wish they fixed their damn live streams issues and the fake viewer numbers they throw out.

Can easily see them making a special "free membership" for those with YT Premium.

Like with the messages, or raids on twitch, the chuuba will probably be able to disable them if they wanted it.

Gift subs are definitely trickier on YT since you have an official way of delivering sub only content, compared to Twitch which has none of that. I imagine some people would not like the exclusive club that membership is rn to be broken by gift subs. Buy gift subs are huge for the average creator and their revenue.

It helps indie Vtubers a lot. That's why they're all on Twitch, at least if their region has a Twitch audience. It's basically a subsidy. It's bad for the JP model though.
