>>10373597>It's the government's faultI'm having a giggle. The reason why monopolies exist is because the government doesn't do enough regulation to crack down on practices that buy our or stifle competition, since the end game of capitalism is the monopoly. Amazon using predatory pricing to buy out Zappos (Amazon lost $150 million dollars selling products at a loss to damage Zappos's market value and force them to sell the company to Amazon) for a prime example of that.
And if you're a student of history, look back to what would be considered the last Amazon, the railroad industry of the 19th century. And then find out it was the government that cracked down on the monopoly practices of the railroad industry through laws like the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887, and then going further with the Elkins Act, Hepburn Act, Mann-Elkins Act, Valuation Act and Motor Carrier Act of 1935.
Proper regulation reigns in monopolies, the problem is the current government is a right wing because the overton window as been sifted so far to the right and neoliberalism taking over the democratic party 30 years ago so there hasn't been a true left presences in decades that isn't immediately labeled as 'communist'
