This. But it's also the easiest game to stream. People will always show up to watch and you don't even have to do anything. It's basically a game they pick when they feel like phoning it in.

I do appreciate the ubiquitousness of minecraft streams because I follow more than a dozen chuubas but only have time to watch a handful of streams a week so that eliminates a whole fucking bunch from the get go

Minecraft has been the only thing about the new Gen that I've watched. I want to see the new gen's reactions to all the work Myth has put in over the last year, I want to see their contributions to the server, their interactions with their senpai, and see what kind of interesting creations they can make themselves.

It's a long term collaborative creative sandbox effort that's easy to learn and hard to master. Not hard to see the appeal. It also has the cinematic universe effect where you need to watch all the streams to know everything that goes on or you might miss out on something important that gets referenced later.

The difficulty and complexity can be modulated by the player on the fly.
The player can slow down the pace to chat,
can go on dramatic adventures,
can get technical and intellectually involved in crafting
can ask for input for a creative collaboration with the chat.

I can't think of another game like that.
