I'm an otaku and I've had no desire to go to any cons, not even to possibly fuck some cosplayer or even streamer (probably even if I was invited directly)
There's large groups of otaku who don't go to cons at all.

I didn't know it at the time, but my first gf back in 6th grade was an otaku. She obsessed over Inuyasha and Escaflowne like my friends and I obsessed over DBZ. Every gift we ever got each other were from comic or hobby shops. Every 'date' we had was sushi or ramen.
I made an offcolor joke in reference to the hooker boots she wore to school one day and we broke up.
