>>104193016Back when CCVID hit one thing was very amusing: the recently debuted Luxiem was barely affected.
Down the line the reason for that was made anecdotally clear: the cull was not hitting channels in particular but the audience and their YouTube viewing patterns.
For the vtuber audience they would end up jumping from high viewership channel to high viewership channel without any apparent connection between them
>Hololive would only become a MCN a month later and I suspect CCVID was one of the reasons for that Based on the way it jumped from VSPO to Towa and then to every member of that Christmas relay then to the EN girls that much was apparent: whatever was going on was “contagious” in the sense entire audiences were being flagged as “spam viewers” for being in the same stream as others flagged before in a sort of “guilt by association”.
Now, Luxiem was barely affected because not only their main audience was brand new in the vtuber world (by virtue of being mostly Chinese and SEA) but also they didn’t have any overlap even with the NijiEN girls, let alone the rest of the vtuber world.
I’ll assume anon is talking about what’s going on now without the privilege of having been here during the “2020 algo change”, 2021-2022 “CCVID” and the “2024 view bug” but there are lots of assumptions backed by observation coming from these five or so years that really paint a clear picture of how YouTube works and why these culls happen
