>>104264678I don't believe that you really believe that a vtuber and Nick Fury are comparable, you are just saying this for the sake of the argument because it's vaguely convenient for you to pretend a vtuber you like is a character when they face criticism but they are being real when they do something you like.
A person turning on a webcam and live reacting to a chat, talking about mundane things and their daily life for several hours in real-time but just with an avatar and putting on a voice is NOT the same as Samuel L Jackson acting as Nick Fury and to pretend it is comparable is just disingenuous and I refuse to believe anyone actually really believes this.
There is no 'suspension of disbelief' in vtubing because most vtubers are not being characters, and conspicuously people only ever start treating them like characters and saying 'they're just a character' in response to criticism - but otherwise people treat them as actual people that they are personally invested in most of the time who they take at face value as being themselves.
I refuse to accept this slippery playing fast-and-loose with definitions game that anons here play to defend celebrities that they like.
Vtubers are NOT characters and they are NOT acting and you don't really believe it when you say it.
