It's more viable for larger companies due to economies of scale, but if the situation continues it shouldn't be too difficult to set up a US entity to import the merch... finding the most efficient tax/tariff structure could have a significant one-time cost though, since they'll need legal advice.
It would be funny if some of the non-US based corpos started storing their imported merch in the houses of their US based staff...
