The pokemon capture thing was overblown because it's actually a VERY specific patent and the whole Palworld "rivalry" is entirely because of Nintendo/Sony beef and Palworld was unfortunate enough to be absorbed into the latter's ecosystem
And in regards to the emulators and fangames and the like, the issue usually comes down to "retards opened a patreon and profited from the project" when they could just open a ko-fi for generic "coding project" support and be in the legal clear for development (and if they use installers than modify a ROM rather than a hacked ROM altogether, doubly so)
