I don't know what apparently horrible backlash Kizuna Ai got, but, *hot take* I would be interested in them experimenting more with VA changes like in anime and other media. Yeah Fauna and Gura with different voices would be weird, but maybe in time we would just get used to it. If Gura 2.0 would stream frequently it might be preferable to shelving the design forever. But your mileage might vary. In any case, I would be open to the idea.
