I don't even know why you'd name Norio since she was a small time public figure before deciding to become a vtuber, so even if she wasn't transparent about it everyone would have known either way.

Jumping on the bandwagons and taking the moral high ground so they can get more social media points, which may lead to more people noticing them. If they're lucky it will lead to more followers and maybe even some money. The vast majority of them couldn't give less of a shit about the things they advocate for or the stances they take on social media. They just do it in the hopes that they can somehow profit from it.

There's a whole dimension of opportunity between facecam-only and avatar-only. Lumi is a perfect example of how this can work taking advantage of both avenues. You can tell that she's very purposeful and careful with what she shares online. Even her face reveal is still part of her Lumi persona, and it works to the benefit of her channel, her audience, and the relationship between them.
Seeing a vtuber's face is really not that big of a deal. It seems like it is, but you still don't really know anything personal about them just from that.

because that's the current culture here. They try to merge hobby/career with other things from the outside world for whatever reason and it never ends well. They believe they're making some sort of statement by purposefully showing pictures and use their platforms for all of the wrong things because muh agenda and creative freeom.
