>>10654728HOPEFULLY she will have consulted before with some of the more fps-knowledgeable Holos to recommend her a good first starting game.
She should be smart enough not to dive headfirst right into some high-pressure competitive shooter, or anything else too demanding that turns her right off from the genre before she could get the opportunity to appreciate it fully.
From my impressions, good criteria for starting fps for her are:
- nothing too demanding or skill based (she's not there yet, probably never will be, but needs to be eased into it)
- ideally, something more narrative-based, with an engaging story and characters, to have something for chimken to connect with even if the pewpew gameplay itself isn't the main attraction for her
- additionally, it would also probably help if the graphical style wasn't the usual grim & gory aesthetic, which is a turn off for her. I'm not asking for pure anime or whatever, but something that is at least aesthetically more unique and interesting.
- also, nothing too long (well, fps usually aren't), so that she can knock it out in 2-4 streams max, so it doesn't overstay its welcome and Kiara might get bored/burned out by it. At least for her first fps. If she likes it and got a taste for the genre, she can then quickly move on to the next games.
I also wonder why she doesn't just play PORTAL. They have permission, and it's a great (pseudo)-beginner fps, especially for women (bitches LOVE portal), it can get you used to the basic genre control scheme, isn't too demanding (no real enemies, rather puzzles), it has a story, it leads to some funny "beeg brain" moments, it's short and sweet. And you can get some kino Portal 2 collabs later.
Other than that, I'm still thinking Mass Effect might be right up her alley. The remastered edition just came out, so permissions should be easy to get (the publisher wants to advertise its new product). I know it's "sci-fi" (which Kiara said she "doesn't like", I still think she just doesn't really know what she's talking about), it has a nice story and characters to keep her engaged (hey, if she made it through a Yakuza game, she can handle Mass Effect), there are RPG mechanics and not just pure skill based pewpew, and (which may be the final sweetener for Kiara) you can romance cute girls in it.
