It does not mean "right-wing individual", and the term was coined by white nationalists on /pol/ bemoaning their new, more mainstream conservative allies who were making their way onto the site.
4chan was never explicitly leftist, but its true that until around late into Obama's second term, it wasn't explicitly right-wing or white nationalist. The two major ideological binding threads were atheism and soft libertarianism, and this was true of basically any internet milieu dominated by video game playing straight males at the time.
In the wake of the beginning of a renewed "culture war" (then centering on women, now centering on immigrants) many of these men drifted rightwards. This happened to Sam Hyde, and virtually every Ron Paul supporter. It was this and not some "stormweenie invasion" (stormfront is a site who's users are aging white nationalist 1.0 types who were involved in the "scene" in cities like Chicago in the 1980s -- hardly savvy enough to launch an invasion of 4chan and hardly funny or interesting enough for their ideology to spread throughout the internet as fast as it did) that brought 4chan's userbase rightward.
People on 4chan hated George Bush and Christianity. These were the two most proximate annoyances for a young, idealistic and hopeful white male at the time. By the time 2012 rolled around, Obama had been president for 4 years and Christianity had finally lost all cache, something which the endless debates surrounding creationism played no small part in bringing to fruition (seriously). Not long after, it was "tumblr" feminism and leftism, being given a greater platform at the start of the decade, that became the biggest problem for 4chan's average constituents (anti-social gamers and hobbyists).
Anything else is revisionism by people who weren't there. By the time of Trayvon Martin's death, 4chan's representative ideology was crude racism and antisemitism, as well as antifeminism. You can object to this, you can wish that everyone was still a libertarian or pro-weed legalization, but that's not happening. A website like 4chan (by and for anti-social young men) is going to be right-wing because the political exigencies of our time made it so.
