Hippies are the boomer generation, and are now known for trying to institute corporate overreach on their children while being free spirits themselves (sells house to fund retirement but doesnt help their kids, fuck you got mine mentality, your taxes must fund my medicare and social security no matter how it affects the younger generations financially, etc). They oppress the younger generations to give freedom to themselves, with is very much an egotistical authoritarian mindset.
On top of that the younger gen tumblr types went all in on cancel culture and are now the ones cheering for political assassinations.
The crux of the issue is that these bottom left types only appeared to be anti-authoritarian because they had no means to impose authoritarianism on others. Once the social paradigm shifted, they immediately started to impose authoritarian actions where possible.
