>>106781611There's a subtle but noticeable divide between someone who is trying to groom and someone who is trying to be a friend or help.
Groomers typically make themselves out to be the only thing that can help you.
They will try to keep their conversations and interactions with you tight lipped.
They wouldn't try to prove they are trustworthy in any way, and would avoid telling you anything about their IRL situation if asked, so if shit hit the fan they can drop you in a heartbeat. (not always though, this thread has seen that particular kind of psycho who shows up at peoples places)
They will try to steer your life in a direction than benefits mostly them but less so you, or your friends / community at large. As per
>>106782200 they won't necessarily shit on others, but they might be neutral to them, "indifferent", largely refer to them as the "community" instead of actual people. They tend to not be friendly with anyone in said community, a huge thing to look out for.
If they have social media, and it focuses entirely on you, it's not their only social media, it's one made purely to isolate a persona to you and you alone, one they could drop at a moments notice. Normal people do not do that, not even most vtuber fans do that, the "if you follow other people I will see" that vtubers joke about is largely that - a joke - and some fans play in to it for the bit, but most do not. On that note - if their accounts are new it is likely because they are a persona specifically made for you, the older the account the less likely it is, but not always.
If they are trying to help you in some way, the way they are trying to help you can determine whether they are a groomer or not.
If they are trying to help you by making themselves out to be the only reliable person, high chance of grooming.
If they are trying to make or do things that could help others in the community to help you out, likely not grooming but still a small chance.
If they are doing the latter but doing it despite you not even asking for it, if they are trying to help you out and are wanting zero credit for it, there's a high chance they are not trying to groom and are legit trying to help out.
As always though, these are just experiences I've seen around the place, it doesn't even cover every scenario that a groomer could use to get at someone.
It's hard to know without more context on the situation.
