that's 450k before taxes probably.
Assuming its before taxes, that 450k would have japans cute little 50% income tax slapped on it, which nerfs it to 225k. Then lets assume our girl lives in Tokyo for convenience, well shes then looking at $929.80 a month excluding rent. Rent in a apartment that's near the city center would be another $997.54 a month bringing it to 1,927.34 a month if she budgets it perfectly. Assuming that she lives in tokyo all year at that rate that'd be 23,128.80 out of her 225k, which would bring that salary down to 224,976.87. This isn't too bad, she can now exist in Tokyo, if she goes to work and does nothing else. Problem is, shes a human woman, and also a idol, and her job refuses to foot the bill of anything she wants to do project wise. So assuming our girl wants to do a cover, or produce some merch, that cost is on her and her alone. Matsuri actually talked about this a few years ago, and according to her it costs about $20k or more in royalties to cover a song without a video, with a video it can be $50k or more because of production costs. So lets say our girl is ambitious and picks the popular song and throws out a nice video along side with it, it actually wouldn't be too far fetched to say that would cost her $100k. Now all of a sudden her $224k gets cut to $124k. Keep in mind this $124k is assuming she does nothing fun, or goes anywhere, or goes out to eat with friends, or buys cool things, or upgrades her potato pc, or gets model upgrades. A model accessory or outfit could cost her anywhere from a few thousand to a 10k+ depending on the complexity of what she wants, shes a streamer so she needs a decent set up which you would think they all have, but they don't (I'm looking at you and your Tofu setup Iryis).
And god help them if they're from a different country and are currently living in japan, cause then they have to pay 2 sets of taxes, which reduces their income even more.
TL:DR Taxes are the bane of Holos everywhere.
