What went so horribly wrong with Niji EN?
I think they had the best diamond in the rough with Pomu but they isolated her, Finana could have been a great chuuba but she was talked into doing a lot of stupid shit by her discord friends, Elira turned out to be a bitch...
By the time the wave with Kyo came out I just stopped having any faith in them.

Not a matter of stream sniping. That never would've mattered.
What mattered was Holo getting their foot in the door first first by prepping the west with Coco and clips, then jumping straight in with HoloEN to capitalize on the increased interest.

Niji never gave a shit about the west so when they actually came over, very few people knew about them other than "the other hololive with guys in it."

Doki explained why she was doing so much backend for the EN branch a bit ago: because she was bored. Staff would never actually give them projects or take the lead or give them direction on anything, and the other streamers were lazy, so she took it upon herself to make the fun events that nobody else would.

Because she was doing the most, it meant she also was in contact with staff and demanding that they actually do their jobs. And when they wouldn't, she'd go around them and get the perms or assets herself.
The combination of proving how completely worthless NijiEN management was, as well as how she could do their jobs better than they could while also streaming consistently likely is what caused the staff to get bitter and bully her with nonsense like taking years to get perms for things she could get in days.

But they did anon. Sayu lamented about Kotaka who was like a friend who turned on her then down the line watched Kotoka because of an Armcha1r's video covering that stream and soften a bit because of some words that former genmate included that Sayu never heard.

Sayu thought her genmates betrayed her but she clearly knew there was another factor at play.

It is a shame, I was there from day 1 and it's the only time I ever got invested in EN vtubing. Lazulight and Obsydia were great but with every new wave after them more and more AIDS got in and at some point it just became intolerable for me. NijiEN's development curve actually sort of reminds me of WCW during the Monday Night Wars.

Ethyria is a group of asian immigrants with a chip on their shoulder who aren't shy about broadcasting their far-left social justice politics. No. I can agree that that girl's peak was being Zaion, and that she was having a lot of fun and seemed like one of the better hires NijiEN had done in a while, but people were pissed at Nijisanji not for axing her specifically, but for how dirty they did her. And she really never helped her case.

This is all wrong in one way or another.
Zaion had a relatively believable excuse for axing her and didn't have enough of a reputation to protect her, so, people didn't think too hard about her and most of them didn't particularly care. If you didn't look into the reasons given by Niji, you didn't feel too bad about her termination.
But the campaign surrounding her was the first crack with how she got dogpiled. Yugo earlier had way less fanfare around him.
It only started looking bad once other members started leaving and then Selenopocalypse happened. At that point, the cat was out of the bag though it was too late for Sayu.
Zaion was, in fact, the one warning people of an incoming apocalypse that nobody believed in.

Anon she was fucking livid after she actually heard Kotoka's words. She couldn't listen to Kotoka's words before because it was too painful and she wanted to believe Kotoka didn't actually betray her, but after she finally heard them they cut even harder because of how awful they were. She specifically said that Kotoka's grasp of the english language was perfectly fine and she knew exactly how her words would be taken, and that Hex specifically never mentioned any kind of sexual abuse or even hinted at such a thing in the many conversations they had together.

She didn't. She realized they had familiar experiences after reading the exposed discord messages of Ike getting isolated and bullied by niji members and staff. Vshojo had nothing to do with this.

Anon there are clips on Doki's reactions to the Vshojo stuff. If Doki thought everything was intentional by the Niji EN vtubers there she wouldn't have gotten affected about "turning talent against each other". Even when she got kicked out her first message was not to harass the talents.

I don't think we know what changed Doki's mind. She didn't think well enough of Ike after he reached out to apologies nor when she heard of Ike's mental breakdown and departure. And do you really think Doki didn't know about the relationship shenanigans behind the scenes especially when she got on with Vox?

Doki either thought Ike could be an ally; the stream would have helped Ike move on or Doki really doesn't like Vox. Could be all three.

Last year, Sayu finally watched the kotoka/hex black streams and gave more commentary on what went on at the time. She really wanted to like Kotoka and was praying that Kotoka was just ESL, but the words and statements she chose had nothing to do with ESL and were outright venomous, causing Sayu to finally give up on her.

We do. Doki approached Ike again a few days before their stream together. A few days before that was the Marie/Bari/Ike drama where Bari released discord messages of Ike being bullied and excluded. Doki said that her realizing that they might have gone through similar experiences allowed her to at least hear him out. This luxury can't be afforded to Elira or Vox, who were known perpetrators.

And yeah, Doki likely didn't know, considering Pomu didn't even know about Doki's issues.
