Aside from Koyori and Hayama, I haven't seen any big JP playing it. Hopefully more of them play it after it wins GOTY.

It is not that others cant do it. If the steamer is reading subtitles they are not reading chat. If a story heavy game is in a language most viewer don't speak, the stream will not be enjoyable for those who keep steams as background.

The game is literally about not giving in to escapism, it creates this wonderful world that you want to explore and learn more about and then it throws in your face that it's all just fake and that you need to accept this and focus on what actually matters: real life. In my opinion, the fact that the players just can't part with the world inside the Canvas just like Maelle couldn’t is just fucking genius from their part.

They also do a cheap switch from the first (I forget his name gusta or something) to Verso, probably because they don't know how to improve gusta as a character or his mechanic. It's a tragedy that the Canvas world had to die, but it was either that or letting Verso's soul lingering eternally suffering, and honestly the people outside the Canvas are more real than the ones inside, if that happened in real life I wouldn't consider myself equal to those inside the painting.

i would assume a creator god contains all existence in itself and an end to our existence would just mean an end to the transient barriers dividing different pieces of that being from itself. all the life in the painted world could be considered the same with the family members who contributed to it collectively playing the part of that creator god.
ultimately there aren't any real conclusions that can be drawn here because the nature of the painter powers and what the fuck chroma actually is are left too vague.

I think the next game will either explore the world outside the painting (which is also a fantastical world apparently) or it will be like Assassin's Creed where each game you play as someone getting inside a new painting and some little bits are playing in real life.

yes power will likely be derived from whatever bullshit the plot requires. i think the only fleshed out ideas at the core of the narrative are the relationships between the five family members. everything else is so vague that it barely seems to matter, just stylized abstractions of family trauma.
