The golden age of vtubing was in 2020 when the biggest and most popular vtubers were all corpos. Vtuber culture back then being a off-shoot of idol culture was perfect; there was a clear-cut separation between the talent and the viewer so there was zero room for developing parasocial relationships that could hurt either party. Vtubing increased the distance between the talent and the viewer by allowing them to hide behind a virtual avatar.

That was the case until "indie vtubers", a.k.a annoying women who are past their prime and their looks have faded, over-saturated the market and turned vtubing into chaturbate lite. Being open about relationships, posting pictures of themselves, posting SUGGESTIVE pictures of themselves, doing handcam streams and much more destroyed what was an innocent and fun hobby, and turned it into yet another storefront for women to show themselves off and windowshop around for penis, as if we, the viewers, were just a selection of cock to choose from a buffet and nothing more.
