This is the saddest graduation in Hololive, but I can't tell why.
For some reason I am much more upset about this one than all the other ones.

Probably because this is the first real graduation, the first one that's truly a complete and total goodbye and not a "who knows maybe I'll see you in a couple of months *wink*" like how Aqua or Shion did, plus 'taso has been one of the members that struggled the most to be where she's at, 2024~2025 were some of her best years finally making it big on her own and no one can call her "coco's sidekick" anymore, not a leech either, she on her own made it to the top 10 of the company sololive included, all the struggle the previous years and the antis and well... Her health and her pride just didn't let her go further than this, it is sad no matter how you try to spin it.

I still hope some other holomem slaps some sense in her and at least makes her stay as a staff or something... Just leaving like this feel awful, this dumb stubborn tenshi I swear...

Yeah, same. I was sad about Aqua leaving, but this one hit me like a truck. I love Kanata, she's such a sweet girl, and has so much great music. It hits even stronger since she herself said she won't reincarnate. And it hits even stronger still, knowing that her worsening health could her life very difficult regardless of the path she chooses.
And it's made EVEN WORSE by the fact that it seems like really should have been avoidable.

I think it's because most of the others felt like ripping the bandaid off. They would take long hiatuses, or otherwise seemed checked out. They'd plant the seed months in advance.
Kanata wanted to burn bright until the very end, until she burned out.

It doesn't help that her outlook seems criminally naive, that she'll just walk into the unemployment office and get a normal job to sustain her lifestyle with her health condition and lack of employment history. That she has no savings to fall back on. Or that she's resolute in not coming back to streaming, and if you know her personality you know she'll be too stubborn to back down from her words even if she regrets it later.
Those combined make me seriously worried for her. I hope some of her employment talk is just hyperbole and she has something lined up, I'm sure she has plenty of connections even if not directly at the Cover office.

to me Kanata's is specially sad because we knew she is on a timer because of her illness, not just a timer for being a Holo, or even streaming in any sort of way, but a timer for normalcy (that had already been partially gone) and health, she dopesn't deserve that stuff, and going away in a decidedly quick but not sudden way, increases the melodramatic feel that you don't get from a termination or a reincarnation

Nope. Sorry Op. She left on her own terms. Not sad at all because she is just gonna return to Kson like nothing had happened.

Gura's graduation was more impactful because it affected the west and the eastern parts of hololive because more left right after her. Even if its for their own reasons.

There was no conspiratorial exodus - they just needed all of them to graduate before ENReco part 2 which was made obvious when that got announced immediately after Gura's graduation. If you knew anything about EN dynamics you would know that if you were going to place Mumei in a "clique" it wouldn't be with them anyway.
Mumei has done something similar by repeating that she is not a vtuber and not to expect anything like that from her
