Most vtubers probably have boyfriends or husbands, yes. I will say if you're spending hours watching a chuuba you think "has no entertainment value" beyond selling you some sad fantasy of liking you, you should maybe re-evaluate your life.
There are plenty of vtubers who are highly entertaining, including at the idol corps. I think Korone, Subaru and Miko are all really funny for example, and I couldn't give less of a fuck about their idol activities, nor have I spent a second thinking about any of them from some kind of romantic perspective. It's just fun watching them be loud and dumb friends together playing games.
