The middle class/english-speaking side of Malaysia is very "international", obsessed with things from out of the country and have almost zero pride in local shit, and rightfully so. This extends to how they try to treat foreigners too as white kids in schools get a lot of attention, unlike my time in Indonesia where they treat every person a little more equally.
