On January 2, 2021, at 1:00 PM, Usada Pekora began her first Yakuza 0 stream. It lasted approximately seven hours.
Later, at 10:00 PM, Sakura Miko began a Yakuza 0 stream, but for some reason, she started with the unfinished fifth chapter.
This is because Sakura Miko had been live streaming Yakuza 0 from January 21 to January 29, 2020, but had abandoned it midway. She also restored her archived videos (approximately eight hours) after Pekora's stream ended.
At the time, Hololive was in the midst of a problem with unauthorized illegal streaming stemming from a comprehensive copyright agreement between Nijisanji and Nintendo, which meant there were unavoidable restrictions on the games they could comment on.
However, Usada Pekora ended up streaming for over five hours, completely spoiling the events that would unfold in her next stream.
Usada Pekora continued streaming on the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 9th, and completed the final chapter on the 10th.
Sakura Miko also streamed on the 3rd, 6th, and 9th, and completed the final chapter on the 10th, the same day as Usada Pekora.
The two's parallel running continued with the sequel, Yakuza Kiwami, with the final episode airing at the exact same time. Due to this overlap, Sakura Miko withdrew from the game, which led to Usada Pekora being bombarded with low ratings. The two were estranged for over four years, and the rivalry between their fans became quite bizarre.
As a side note, while Sakura Miko has since commentated on Yakuza Kiwami 2, Usada Pekora has not.
