I don't hate the talents or company, but I feel like the company just lacks the will or ability to truly protect their talents from targeted mob harassment. I really do not believe they have the ability to litigate against every random one-off throw away twitter/youtube account trashing their talents. No matter what people say about Japanese libel laws, it just feels like a flood of antis at any moment can swarm your oshi and Cover is helpless to really do anything.
With that said I just feel this hobby is full of too many shitty people who find enjoyment in tearing other people down. I don't know if these are just haters, fans of other holo talents, fans of other companies, or just fans of trolling. But their existence in the space and the lack of a way to keep them away from my entertainment source makes me want to divest from watching vtubers. It's like trying to find a way to store food in a rat warren. It's not a matter of "if" retards will harass my oshi, it's a matter of when.
For now I will trim down my oshis to focus on supporting Miko, interacting with her socials, collecting her goods, and building good memories. My plans are to walk away from this hobby whenever she does. I'm open to change, but I don't think this landscape will truly change for the better.
