Most mods are QoL mods, the mains big gameplay mods are Troubler (which is just Vanilla Octopath but harder), New Dawn (which uses new skills and Makes the game harder too) and I think there's a "boss rush" mod too

If you're the type that likes to do everything in a game, yes. Because you will easily be overpowered on both mechanics and statistics. If you just want to bulldoze the game for the finish line, no. Cause you will call it bad game design that a game requires you to have a brain to beat it.

In my opinion yes, the base game is way too easy.
Max Troubled can seem very hard at first when you get to chapter 2 bosses, but the dopamine hit when you finally beat the boss after thinking of a good strategy is unmatched.
