The real answer is that it's as bad as Overwatch, Marvel Rivals and other games casuals are playing to this day
The difference is that those games were either there first with no real competition or had something else to offer beyond awful gameplay to trap their players like colorful and quirky characters
Highguard is just another log of shit in a river of waste, you have zero reason to pretend to like it

It's not bad so much as designed from the ground up for sweaty pros

Billions of little mechanics and gameplay phases you gotta learn for each map while dealing with a frustrating queuing system and praying that the 2 people you're paired with aren't godawful because it's not reasonable to be able to solo carry or rat like Apex,etc.
It's just too much for a casual player to be expected to learn without getting annoyed and going off to play something else.
