I don't mean it in the sense that they're all graduating.
I mean that the main branch hasn't had a new generation since forever.

It seems like the main branch is no longer something they want to grow anymore.
Cover seems obligated to feed new members to Dev_Is.

The main branch and Dev_Is are ostensibly the same thing
Like, Regloss and Flowglow are in all but name, just JP7 and JP8

This sounds like a weird rrat.
It's not like there's ever been forced unity for gens. NePoLaBo and Advent are the outliers, not the standard.

That's the thing, unity used to be completely optional.
Dev_Is is supposed to be group-oriented to mirror real-life idol groups.
Add to the fact that Ao just wanted to do chill and creative streams instead of attending mandated lessons, and she has a case for the main branch.

Problem is how would you even do that at this point? It's a little late to throw someone in without a group, and the only reason Azki/Irys were moved was because their projects crashed and burned.
They'd probably need to wait for a few more graduations + a few more members in devis to start shuffling around a new group or something.

But I don't really see how this would be an issue unless you're implying that the like 1-2 covers they would do every other month was SUCH massive deal beaker for her that she opted to quit despite being allowed to do shit with Marine/out-siders just as often as the stuff she did where gen; which kinda sounds like rrat

Chipping in, apparently Dev_IS was kept under wraps at the time they were auditioning. The whole thing smacks of Cover being protective of information (as usual) at the cost of transparency and agency for talent. Who knows what actually happened. But that change from talent controlling their careers and content, to it being defined by management, seems pretty definitive. And I think that's what you're feeling OP.

I've personally never been a fan of the ever-expanding roster of talents; it's simply way too much of a hassle to keep up with so many streams. it's hard to be a fan of the brand as a whole if I'm forced to pick just 2 or 3 to actually watch regularly.
