Japan has a long history of stigmatizing other Asians as lesser, and Koreans in particular as not equally human as themselves. They called comfort women "public toilets" in administrative documents. I have zero faith in Cover but saying they have racial hate towards Koreans is excessive and it's closer to implicit bias where the Korean women kept getting the most sexualized designs and skimpiest outfits since old Japanese guys consider them to be more sexual. It's not over the top villain behavior but racial biases creeping into their decisions and it's a major flaw of having management determine everything in terms of Hololive design and lore. Sure, but wanting to sell merch to coomers is not a shock for a vtuber corporation. A lot of the negatives of Hololive are a reflection of the sleazier aspects of the idol industry which did get amplified with how Cover decided to heavily sexualize the Korean talents.
